BYD Unveils New Electric LCV and Yard Tractor for European Market

Posted on September 18, 2024

Chinese automotive giant BYD has made a significant splash at IAA Transportation 2024, unveiling two new electric commercial vehicles designed specifically for the European market. The BYD E-VALI, a pure-electric light commercial vehicle (LCV), and the BYD EYT 2.0, a robust electric yard tractor, are both set to revolutionize the commercial transportation landscape in Europe.

The BYD E-VALI is a 3.5t/4.25t LCV designed to meet the needs of last-mile delivery services. With a substantial cargo capacity and cutting-edge technology, the E-VALI offers a practical and efficient solution for businesses looking to reduce their carbon footprint. Powered by BYD’s advanced Blade Battery technology, the E-VALI boasts impressive range, safety, and durability.

Meanwhile, the BYD EYT 2.0 is a pure-electric yard tractor designed for use in ports, terminals, and distribution centres. With its powerful capabilities and manoeuvrability, the EYT 2.0 can handle heavy loads with ease, making it an ideal choice for businesses seeking to transition to electric power.

Both vehicles are equipped with BYD’s latest innovations in safe, efficient, and high-performance battery and powertrain technologies, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. They join other BYD eTrucks on display at IAA Transportation, including the BYD ETM6, a 7.5T pure-electric truck, and the 19T BYD ETH8 eTruck.

BYD’s commitment to sustainable transportation is evident in its extensive lineup of electric commercial vehicles. The company’s focus on innovation and technology has enabled it to develop vehicles that are not only environmentally friendly but also highly efficient and practical.

Michael Shu, Managing Director of BYD Europe, said, “BYD’s goal of cooling the earth by one degree is a vision that can only be achieved through a wide variety of applications. We’re delighted to show another part of this here at IAA, with a line-up of commercial vehicles, including new models that are tailored to Europe. We’re optimistic that the E-VALI and EYT 2.0 can make significant contributions to more sustainable solutions in areas as diverse as last-mile deliveries and major distribution hubs.”

As the European market continues to embrace electric vehicles, BYD is well-positioned to become a major player in the commercial transportation sector. The company was the biggest global seller of New Energy Vehicles in 2023. With its innovative products and commitment to sustainability, BYD is paving the way for a cleaner and greener future.

Henry Benz isn't your average automotive journalist. He's not obsessed with horsepower or zero-to-sixty times. His passion lies in the quiet hum of electric motors, the surge of instant torque, and the thrill of a world hurtling towards a sustainable future. Henry is the EV evangelist, your plug-in pal, and the guy who will make you fall in love with the world of electric vehicles, one test drive at a time.

Henry's journey began in the golden age of muscle cars. He spent his youth wrenching on classic V8s, his nose forever stained with grease and his ears ringing with the roar of internal combustion. But as the climate crisis loomed larger, a seed of doubt sprouted in his gearhead heart. Could there be a way to enjoy the thrill of the open road without sacrificing the planet?

That's when Henry discovered the world of EVs. He was captivated by the silent power, the instant acceleration, and the sleek, futuristic designs. He devoured every article, watched every documentary, and hopped behind the wheel of every electric car he could find. He was hooked.
