CUPRA Tavascan Electrifies UK Streets: Orders Open September 11th

Posted on August 26, 2024

CUPRA, the high-performance subsidiary of SEAT, has announced pre-orders for the Tavascan, its first all-electric SUV coupe, are opening in the UK on September 11th. This marks a significant milestone in CUPRA’s electrification journey, offering drivers a sleek design, impressive power, and a long driving range.

To celebrate the launch, enthusiasts can secure a coveted spot amongst the first 50 Tavascan owners on UK roads by placing a refundable £99 reservation. This reservation not only prioritizes your order but also gets fully refunded within seven days, regardless of your final decision.

Once orders open on September 11th, customers can take advantage of a compelling retail package. This includes a £3,000 deposit contribution, a competitive 1% APR financing offer over 48 months, and the choice between a complimentary Ohme home charger or a £700 charging voucher. Additionally, customers can opt for the eCare2 service plan for just £49, ensuring peace of mind with their new electric vehicle.

The CUPRA Tavascan comes in four trims – V1, V2, VZ1, and VZ2 – all equipped with advanced electric powertrains. With two power outputs available – 286PS and a top-of-the-line 340PS – the Tavascan delivers exhilarating performance. The 286PS variant offers an impressive range of up to 352 miles, thanks to the 77kWh net capacity battery pack. This combination allows the SUV coupe to reach 62mph from a standstill in just 6.8 seconds (5.5 seconds for VZ trims) and achieve a top speed of 112 mph. The DCC Sport Dynamic Chassis Control system* further enhances the driving experience, ensuring a sporty and dynamic feel.

The 77kWh battery pack’s on-board AC charger offers up to 11kW for home charging. The Tavascan can also utilize DC fast-charging networks at speeds of up to 135kW, enabling quick top-ups on the go.

Beyond power and performance, the Tavascan boasts a head-turning design. The mysterious and bold front end, accentuated by the signature CUPRA tri-angular headlights and “shark nose” feature, lends an athletic and sporty character to the vehicle.

Marcus Gossen, Director of SEAT and CUPRA UK, said: “We’re thrilled to announce the Tavascan pre-orders opening in the UK. This represents years of dedication to innovation and design, culminating in the future of CUPRA. We’re particularly delighted to offer the opportunity to secure one of the first 50 Tavascans, making you a pioneer of electric performance on UK roads. The Tavascan marks a significant step in CUPRA’s electrification journey, and we can’t wait to see it hit the streets from September 11th onwards.”

Henry Benz isn't your average automotive journalist. He's not obsessed with horsepower or zero-to-sixty times. His passion lies in the quiet hum of electric motors, the surge of instant torque, and the thrill of a world hurtling towards a sustainable future. Henry is the EV evangelist, your plug-in pal, and the guy who will make you fall in love with the world of electric vehicles, one test drive at a time.

Henry's journey began in the golden age of muscle cars. He spent his youth wrenching on classic V8s, his nose forever stained with grease and his ears ringing with the roar of internal combustion. But as the climate crisis loomed larger, a seed of doubt sprouted in his gearhead heart. Could there be a way to enjoy the thrill of the open road without sacrificing the planet?

That's when Henry discovered the world of EVs. He was captivated by the silent power, the instant acceleration, and the sleek, futuristic designs. He devoured every article, watched every documentary, and hopped behind the wheel of every electric car he could find. He was hooked.
