Dacia Spring Electrifies the UK: Affordable EV Makes Right-Hand Drive Debut

Posted on February 22, 2024

Dacia, the budget-conscious brand known for its value-driven vehicles, is set to electrify the UK market with the arrival of the All-New Dacia Spring. This fully electric car, previously unavailable in right-hand drive, boasts affordability, practicality, and a fresh design, making it a compelling option for eco-conscious drivers seeking an accessible entry point into the EV world.

Affordability Reigns Supreme

Living up to its reputation, the All-New Spring claims the title of the most affordable new electric car in Europe. Its price tag, to be announced on March 12th, promises to be a major draw for budget-minded buyers looking to make the switch to electric mobility.

More Than Just Budget-Friendly

While affordability is its key selling point, the Spring doesn’t compromise on practicality. It boasts the best loading capacity in its segment, offering ample space for daily errands and weekend adventures. The clever YouClip system allows for additional storage solutions, further enhancing its versatility.

Fresh Design and Tech Upgrade

The Spring undergoes a significant makeover, adopting Dacia‘s new design language with a robust and modern look. The interior receives a complete overhaul, featuring a customizable digital dashboard and a central multimedia display (size varies by trim).

Efficiency Through Lightness

Dacia prioritizes lightweight design, keeping the Spring under 1 tonne, the only full-electric car in Europe to achieve this feat. This translates to impressive energy efficiency, with a low consumption of 14.6 kWh/62 miles (WLTP). The compact 26.8 kWh battery offers a range of over 137 miles, catering to the average UK daily driving needs of 23 miles.

Safety and Convenience

The Spring comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of ADAS features, including emergency braking, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring, ensuring driver and passenger safety. A bi-directional V2L charger allows the car to act as a power source for electrical devices, adding another layer of convenience.

Right-Hand Drive and Wider Range

For the UK launch, Dacia offers an expanded range with three trim levels: Essential, Expression, and Extreme. Each trim boasts a progressively higher level of equipment, catering to diverse needs.

Green Credentials

The Spring’s environmental credentials are impressive. It earned a 5-star rating from Green NCAP, highlighting its low emissions and energy efficiency. This accolade further solidifies its position as a sustainable choice for environmentally conscious drivers.

Pre-Ordering and Availability

With pre-orders opening on March 12th and full specifications and pricing to be revealed on the same day, the All-New Dacia Spring is poised to stir up the UK electric vehicle market. Its combination of affordability, practicality, and eco-friendly features makes it a compelling option for budget-conscious drivers seeking to join the electric revolution.

Overall, the All-New Dacia Spring’s arrival in the UK is a significant development. By offering an affordable, practical, and efficient electric car, Dacia is making sustainable mobility accessible to a wider audience. This could potentially accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the UK and contribute to a greener future.
