Move over, supercars – the electric revolution is setting its sights on a true icon of automotive excess: the Lamborghini LM002. British electric vehicle specialists Everrati have announced their most ambitious project yet – transforming this gas-guzzling behemoth into a silent but potent electric behemoth.
The LM002, famed for its outrageous design and monstrous V12 engine borrowed from the Countach, is set to lose its heart-thumping combustion heritage in favor of a cutting-edge electric drivetrain. This one-off commission, for a client based in the United Arab Emirates, pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of electric conversions.
“We’re very much in the engineering and feasibility studies stage right now,” says Justin Lunny, founder and CEO of Everrati Automotive. While the details are still under wraps, Lunny assures us that Everrati will leverage the technology honed in their previous electric supercar conversions.
This project also marks the blossoming partnership between Everrati and W Motors, the UAE-based manufacturer of the Lykan HyperSport. “It will be built from an engineering perspective in the UK, and possibly finished in the UAE by W Motors,” says Lunny. This strategic collaboration allows Everrati to tap into W Motors’ expertise for specific aspects of the build.
The donor LM002’s bodywork will undergo a complete restoration in the UK. However, the client has the option to truly go wild – a bespoke carbon fiber body crafted by Aria Group in California is a possibility. Aria Group boasts an impressive pedigree, building custom bodies for Everrati’s electric conversions and the Czinger 21C hypercar.
While this is a one-off project for now, Everrati is open to building more electric Lamborghinis. The company caters to a clientele who value exclusivity, and while this particular client hasn’t secured exclusivity rights, future electric LM002s could be a possibility for those with deep pockets and a taste for the extraordinary.
The completed electric LM002 will have a lot to live up to. The original 5.2-liter V12 put out a staggering 449 horsepower, and Everrati will need a powerful electric drivetrain to compensate. This project also holds historical significance – it will be the first electric Lamborghini SUV to hit the road, predating the production version of the Lamborghini Lanzador by several years and the very first plug-in hybrid Urus SE.
The electric revolution in the automotive industry is well underway, and with projects like this, it’s clear that no gas-guzzling icon is safe. The future may be silent, but with Everrati at the helm, it promises to be no less thrilling.
