MG is making a bold statement at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show, unveiling a brand-new sub-brand focused on premium electric vehicles: IM. The IM L6 Saloon, making its global debut, promises to shake up the luxury EV segment with its impressive range, blistering performance, and cutting-edge technology.
IM, standing for “Intelligent Mobility,” represents the next chapter for MG, venturing beyond its established value-oriented electric vehicles. The brand aims to deliver a luxurious and technologically advanced driving experience, targeting the premium market with a clear focus on executive saloons and larger SUVs.
The IM L6 Saloon embodies this vision. This sleek, premium electric saloon boasts breathtaking performance, capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in under 3 seconds. But raw power isn’t its only selling point. Two battery options offer exceptional range: over 600 kilometers with a Lithium-ion battery and an astonishing over 800 kilometers with a solid-state battery (based on WLTP estimates). This range surpasses most current luxury EVs, putting the IM L6 in a league of its own.
“The IM L6 is a game-changer,” said CEO of MG Motor, Xuyang Qin. “It combines exhilarating performance with exceptional range, setting a new benchmark for premium electric vehicles. IM represents our commitment to innovation and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the EV space.”
But the IM L6 isn’t just about impressive numbers. It also prioritizes advanced technology. Expect cutting-edge driver assistance systems, intelligent and connected services, and a luxurious, tech-laden interior. While details remain scarce, MG promises a truly premium experience that blends luxury with cutting-edge innovation.
The IM L6 isn’t the only star of the show. Alongside its global debut, MG is also showcasing the all-new MG3 Hybrid. This hatchback marks MG’s foray into the hybrid market, offering a fuel-efficient and affordable option for eco-conscious drivers.
The combined debuts of IM and the MG3 Hybrid represent a significant shift for MG. The brand is no longer just about affordable electric cars – it’s now venturing into the premium segment and exploring alternative powertrains. This strategic move positions MG to compete with established luxury brands, offering a compelling alternative for drivers seeking cutting-edge technology, exceptional range, and a touch of luxury.
The IM L6 and the MG3 Hybrid will be unveiled on Monday, February 26th, at 10:30 CET at the MG Stand (Number 4251, Hall 4) at the Geneva Motor Show. The future of MG looks bright, and with its new IM brand and hybrid offerings, the brand is poised to electrify the automotive landscape in more ways than one.
