Maserati has officially unveiled the GranCabrio Folgore, marking a momentous shift towards a fully electric future for the iconic Italian brand. The event, aptly titled “Made in Thunder,” was a celebration of innovation and heritage, showcasing the GranCabrio Folgore as the latest addition to the Folgore electric vehicle (EV) lineup.
The evening unfolded with an artistic performance by Italian artist Dardust, setting the stage for a transformation that embodies “creative inspiration” and “an exciting new journey.” Actresses Matilda De Angelis and Edwige Pezzulli, an astrophysicist, then highlighted the significance of the launch date – the birthday of Leonardo Da Vinci, a symbol of Italian ingenuity, and the national day celebrating “Made in Italy” excellence.
Maserati emphasized its role as a pioneer in the luxury electric car segment with the GranCabrio Folgore. This open-top masterpiece boasts the title of the world’s fastest electric convertible, combining elegance, sportiness, and cutting-edge technology. Following the GranTurismo Folgore and the Grecale Folgore, the GranCabrio Folgore completes Maserati’s current electric offering.
Klaus Busse, Maserati’s Head of Design, unveiled the GranCabrio Folgore in all its glory. The car, sporting a dazzling Liquid Rose Gold exterior with a contrasting Titan Grey soft top, is a testament to Maserati’s Fuoriserie customization program. The luxurious Denim and Ice interior with contrasting stitching further underscores the meticulous attention to detail.
Busse spoke of the car’s captivating design, exhilarating performance, and the distinct “Folgore sound,” a signature element inspired by Maserati’s Formula E experience. The electric drivetrain, derived from Formula E technology and adapted for mass production, promises an unmatched driving experience.
Davide Grasso, Maserati’s Chief Executive Officer, expressed his gratitude to the audience for witnessing the dawn of Maserati’s electric era. He emphasized the brand’s unwavering commitment to Italian heritage, even in this new electric chapter. Grasso declared, “There could be no Maserati without Italy,” solidifying the brand’s identity as it embraces a sustainable future.
The GranCabrio Folgore signifies a new chapter for Maserati, one fueled by innovation and a dedication to preserving the brand’s core values. With a full-electric lineup by 2025 and an entirely electric range by 2028, Maserati is poised to become a leader in the luxury electric car segment. The thunderous roar of the GranCabrio Folgore is not just the sound of an engine, but the sound of a legacy being reinvented for a new generation.
