Osprey Charging, a leading force in the UK’s EV charging landscape, has reached a significant milestone: over 1,000 operational rapid EV chargers are now available for public use. This impressive feat comes after a year of exceptional growth, with Osprey’s network expanding by a staggering 150% in just 12 months.
This achievement solidifies Osprey’s position as the third-largest public rapid charging network in the UK, according to Zap-Map statistics.
The network’s growth isn’t limited to sheer numbers. Osprey has prioritized strategic placement, installing 15 high-powered charging hubs in key locations across Devon, Cumbria, Essex, Dunbartonshire, Carmarthenshire, and Nottinghamshire. These hubs boast not only accessibility but also exceptional power, featuring multiple 300kW chargers for rapid charging needs.
Osprey’s commitment to a seamless EV experience extends beyond network reach. The company boasts an impressive 99% charger reliability rate, ensuring minimal downtime for drivers on the go. Additionally, Osprey’s user-friendly interface has been recognized for its ease of use, earning it the coveted “Driver Recommended Network” title from Zap-Map for a remarkable fourth year in a row.
Osprey’s dedication to excellence is further cemented by its recent award wins. In 2023, they were named Best EV Charging Network at the Transport and Energy awards, followed shortly by securing Chargepoint Network of the Year at the Electric Vehicle Innovation and Excellence Awards (EVIEs).
Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging, expressed his enthusiasm: “With over 1,000 rapid chargers now available, we’re providing the critical infrastructure needed to fuel the electric vehicle revolution. This rapid growth is matched by our unwavering commitment to exceptional service, offering a reliable and user-friendly nationwide network for EV drivers.”
Looking ahead, Johnston highlights the importance of streamlining the charging infrastructure rollout process. He welcomes recent findings from the House of Lords that call for tackling delays caused by funding and planning regulations, along with the need to equalize VAT rates between domestic and public charging. These changes, Johnston believes, will ultimately lead to a significantly improved experience for EV drivers across the UK.
Osprey Charging’s achievement marks a significant step forward for EV adoption in the UK. With its extensive, reliable, and user-friendly network, Osprey is well-positioned to play a leading role in the country’s transition to electric mobility.
