Rimac Unleashes the 2,107hp Nevera R: A Cornering Beast

Posted on August 16, 2024

Croatian electric hypercar manufacturer Rimac has unveiled the Nevera R, a track-focused evolution of its already groundbreaking Nevera model. Positioned as the ‘aggressive alter ego’ of the original, the Nevera R is designed to excel in cornering, while still delivering astonishing straight-line performance.

With a staggering 2,107 horsepower on tap, the Nevera R is capable of hitting 300 km/h (186 mph) in just 8.66 seconds – even quicker than its record-breaking sibling. However, it’s the car’s cornering prowess that truly sets it apart.

Mate Rimac, CEO of the Rimac Group, explained the reasoning behind the Nevera R: “Many customers were looking for a car that really emphasised the Nevera’s cornering ability, using all the advanced technology on board. We responded with the Nevera R: all the DNA of the record-breaking Nevera, but lighter, faster and more focused.”

To achieve this, Rimac engineers have extensively re-engineered the Nevera platform. A new, performance-oriented battery pack, paired with next-generation Rimac All-Wheel Torque Vectoring (R-AWTV) and upgraded brakes, delivers sharper, tighter handling and increased grip. The car’s aerodynamic package has also been refined, with a larger rear wing and diffuser generating 15% more downforce.

Visually, the Nevera R is lower and wider than the standard car, with a more aggressive stance. New 21-inch rear wheels and 20-inch front wheels fill the arches, while a distinctive Nebula green paint finish sets it apart. The interior remains focused on the driver, with a range of customisation options available.

Production of the Nevera R will be strictly limited to just 40 units worldwide, making it a highly exclusive proposition for those seeking the ultimate electric driving experience.

Key Performance Figures

  • Top speed: 350 km/h (412 km/h with manufacturer oversight) / 217 mph (256 mph with manufacturer oversight)
  • 0-60 mph: 1.74s
  • 0-100 km/h / 0-62 mph: 1.81s
  • 0-200 km/h / 0-124 mph: 4.38s
  • 100-200 km/h / 62-124 mph: 2.46s
  • 0-300 km/h / 0-186 mph: 8.66s
  • ¼ mile: 8.23s

The Rimac Nevera R represents a bold statement of intent from the Croatian manufacturer. By focusing on cornering performance without compromising straight-line speed, it has created a hypercar that is truly in a league of its own.

Henry Benz isn't your average automotive journalist. He's not obsessed with horsepower or zero-to-sixty times. His passion lies in the quiet hum of electric motors, the surge of instant torque, and the thrill of a world hurtling towards a sustainable future. Henry is the EV evangelist, your plug-in pal, and the guy who will make you fall in love with the world of electric vehicles, one test drive at a time.

Henry's journey began in the golden age of muscle cars. He spent his youth wrenching on classic V8s, his nose forever stained with grease and his ears ringing with the roar of internal combustion. But as the climate crisis loomed larger, a seed of doubt sprouted in his gearhead heart. Could there be a way to enjoy the thrill of the open road without sacrificing the planet?

That's when Henry discovered the world of EVs. He was captivated by the silent power, the instant acceleration, and the sleek, futuristic designs. He devoured every article, watched every documentary, and hopped behind the wheel of every electric car he could find. He was hooked.
