BYD Electrifies Geneva Motor Show with World-Firsts, Luxury Brands, and Innovation

Posted on February 16, 2024

BYD, the global leader in New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) and power batteries, is making waves at the 2024 Geneva International Motor Show with a diverse lineup of new models, cutting-edge technologies, and the European debut of its premium sub-brands, YANGWANG and DENZA.

Super DM Tech: A Game Changer for PHEVs

The biggest news is the BYD SEAL U DM-i, the first plug-in hybrid in Europe equipped with BYD‘s revolutionary Super DM (Dual Mode) technology. This intelligent PHEV system promises efficiency, practicality, and eco-conscious daily driving, along with extended worry-free range for longer journeys. The SEAL U DM-i caters to markets where charging infrastructure is still developing or where customers value the flexibility of both electric and gasoline power.

Refreshed Flagship: The BYD TANG EV

The popular 7-seater, all-electric BYD TANG also makes a return in Geneva, completely refreshed and restyled. This intelligent family SUV offers the perfect blend of practicality, comfort, and eco-friendliness with fast charging, a range of up to 530 kilometers (WLTP combined), and powerful performance. The new TANG has already received a top safety rating of 5 stars from Euro NCAP, solidifying BYD’s commitment to both safety and sustainability.

Luxury Unveiled: The Arrival of YANGWANG and DENZA

BYD is raising eyebrows with the European premiere of its supreme luxury sub-brand, YANGWANG. This brand represents the pinnacle of NEV innovation, and at the Geneva show, BYD offers a glimpse of its potential with the stunning YANGWANG U8. Powered by the groundbreaking e⁴ platform and the DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System, the U8 boasts world-first four-motor independent drive technology, enabling unparalleled safety, performance, and agility. Its 0-to-360-degree “Tank Turn” maneuver is sure to turn heads.

DENZA, BYD’s joint venture with Mercedes-Benz, also joins the stage with the N7, a sleek and sporty premium electric SUV. Following the successful debut of the DENZA D9 MPV at IAA Mobility 2023, the N7 showcases DENZA’s dedication to delivering top-tier electric vehicles with exceptional performance, comfort, and personalized driving experiences.

A Dynamic Presence at Geneva

BYD occupies a prominent position at the Geneva Motor Show, with a spacious 1,000 m² booth in Hall 4, stand 4221. The company will host a press conference on Monday, February 26, at 11:45 AM, where they will likely unveil further details about their exciting lineup and future plans for the European market.

This year’s Geneva Motor Show marks a significant step for BYD in Europe. With the introduction of Super DM technology, the expansion of its product portfolio with refreshed and new models, and the arrival of its premium sub-brands, BYD is solidifying its position as a major player in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle landscape. The company is poised to capture the attention of both consumers and industry experts alike with its innovative approach and commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.

Henry Benz isn't your average automotive journalist. He's not obsessed with horsepower or zero-to-sixty times. His passion lies in the quiet hum of electric motors, the surge of instant torque, and the thrill of a world hurtling towards a sustainable future. Henry is the EV evangelist, your plug-in pal, and the guy who will make you fall in love with the world of electric vehicles, one test drive at a time.

Henry's journey began in the golden age of muscle cars. He spent his youth wrenching on classic V8s, his nose forever stained with grease and his ears ringing with the roar of internal combustion. But as the climate crisis loomed larger, a seed of doubt sprouted in his gearhead heart. Could there be a way to enjoy the thrill of the open road without sacrificing the planet?

That's when Henry discovered the world of EVs. He was captivated by the silent power, the instant acceleration, and the sleek, futuristic designs. He devoured every article, watched every documentary, and hopped behind the wheel of every electric car he could find. He was hooked.
