LEVC, the company behind London’s iconic black cabs, is undergoing a metamorphosis. Shedding its past solely as a high-end taxi manufacturer, LEVC is emerging as a major player in the global electric mobility scene. The first tangible evidence of this transformation comes in the form of the L380, a luxurious and spacious electric MPV.
The L380 serves as the flagship for LEVC’s new era, built upon their innovative Space Oriented Architecture (SOA) platform. This dedicated electric vehicle platform promises an “unprecedentedly spacious and luxurious experience” for both families and business users.
A Blend of Luxury and Functionality
The interior of the L380 draws inspiration from the world of premium airline travel. Up to eight passengers can be accommodated in first-class style seating, upholstered in a combination of soft, semi-aniline leather and Alcantara fabrics. The focus on comfort extends to reclining seats that transform into beds, perfect for long journeys.
Further elevating the cabin ambience are chrome and crystal accents, alongside air vents shaped like traditional Chinese Ruyi sceptres. A touch of whimsy comes in the form of a “meteor shower cabin lighting effect” that incorporates iconic London landmarks like Tower Bridge and Big Ben.
The focus on spaciousness doesn’t come at the expense of aesthetics. The L380 boasts a sleek, modern exterior influenced by aircraft aerodynamics. A panoramic glass roof measuring a substantial 2.18 square meters bathes the interior in natural light and can be dimmed for passenger comfort. The bold design is further accentuated by a choice of four dynamic exterior colors: Pearl White, Ink Jade Black, Sapphire Blue, and Emerald Green.
Global Design for a Global Market
The L380’s design is a collaborative effort, spearheaded by LEVC’s Global Chief Design Officer, Brett Boydell, and his team. This international group of designers, with experience working for renowned luxury car brands, is dedicated to shaping the future of LEVC vehicles built on the SOA platform.
“Our team is passionate about pushing the boundaries of automotive design, particularly in the areas of luxury and space optimization,” commented Boydell. “The L380 MPV is the first of a wave of new electric LEVC products built on our SOA platform. It breaks new ground by drawing inspiration from diverse sources like luxury air travel and international cultures, all brought together by cutting-edge technology that prioritizes space efficiency and flexibility.”
A New Chapter for LEVC
LEVC CEO Alex Nan sees the L380 as a pivotal milestone, not just for the company’s future but for the MPV segment itself. “The L380 sets new standards in the luxury MPV sector,” he declared. “It combines space-efficient design with premium quality, raising the bar for multi-purpose vehicles.”
The L380 represents a strategic shift for LEVC. The company, with over a century of experience in urban mobility solutions, aims to leverage its rich heritage to propel itself into new markets. The SOA platform serves as the foundation for this expansion, with plans to introduce multiple new models across over 40 countries in the coming years.
The L380 is slated for an initial launch in China, with a UK arrival scheduled within the next two years. This luxurious electric MPV marks a significant turning point for LEVC, showcasing their commitment to becoming a leading force in the global electric mobility landscape.
