MG Cyberster On Sale Now From £54,995

Posted on April 26, 2024

MG Motor UK has officially unveiled its highly anticipated electric roadster, the Cyberster, and it’s ready to redefine open-air motoring for the EV generation. With two distinct variants, the Trophy and GT, the Cyberster offers a compelling blend of style, performance, and practicality for the electric enthusiast.

Starting at £54,995, the rear-wheel-drive Trophy caters to those seeking a balance of exhilaration and everyday usability. Its single electric motor delivers a healthy 340PS (250kW) and propels the car from 0-62mph in a respectable 5.0 seconds.

The range-topping GT, priced at £59,995, is the true performance hero. Packing a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, it boasts a staggering 503PS (375kW) and blasts from 0-62mph in a blistering 3.2 seconds. This makes it the most powerful production model in MG’s 100-year history.

Both variants share a sleek and sporty design, featuring the iconic scissor doors envisioned by MG London’s design team. The fully-electric fabric hood opens in a mere 15 seconds at speeds up to 30mph, adding to the open-air thrill.

But the Cyberster isn’t just about aesthetics. MG has invested heavily in developing a chassis specifically optimized for European roads. This translates to a refined and comfortable ride in urban environments, transforming into a genuinely sporty experience on the open road. Brembo brakes and three-mode regenerative braking ensure confident stopping power and maximize energy efficiency.

Despite their performance focus, both the Trophy and GT offer impressive driving ranges. The Trophy boasts a maximum WLTP range of 316 miles, while the GT comes in at a still-respectable 276 miles.

For those concerned about charging times, the Cyberster supports rapid DC charging up to 150kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in just 38 minutes. This makes long-distance journeys a breeze, eliminating range anxiety.

Safety is paramount, and the Cyberster comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features as part of the MG Pilot system. These include Lane Change and Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Blind Spot Detection, ensuring a safe and stress-free driving experience.

Stepping inside the Cyberster’s cabin is an event in itself. The automatically opening scissor doors set the stage for a luxurious and contemporary space. The driver and passenger are treated to a wraparound three-screen cockpit, featuring a 10.25-inch driver display flanked by two 7-inch displays. A further central touchscreen provides access to climate controls and a range of infotainment features, including Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system.

Practicality hasn’t been forgotten either. A 249-litre boot offers ample space for weekend getaways, while thoughtful touches like a central armrest with storage, sunvisors with integrated mirrors, and a 12v power socket ensure a comfortable journey.

The interior design matches the car’s sporty exterior. Metal sports pedals complement the highly functional steering wheel, while leather-style seats are available in two color combinations. With five exterior color options and multiple roof fabric and paint combinations, there are over 30 ways to personalize your Cyberster.

MG’s Cyberster Trophy and GT are a compelling proposition for drivers seeking an electric roadster that offers a thrilling driving experience without sacrificing practicality or comfort. With deliveries starting in August 2024, the electric revolution just got a whole lot more exciting.
