Tesla Unveils Longest-Range Model 3 Yet, Boasting Efficiency and Affordability

Posted on October 9, 2024

Tesla has unveiled a significant addition to its Model 3 line-up in Europe: the Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive. This new variant boasts a best-in-class range of 436 miles (700km) on the WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedures) cycle, making it the longest-range Model 3 ever offered and the most efficient Tesla to date. The new Model 3 comes hot on the heels of the Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive.

The Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive achieves this impressive feat with a consumption rate of just 12.5kWh per 100km. This translates to potential annual charging costs of under £150 for drivers covering 10,000 miles a year, utilizing an EV electricity tariff like the Intelligent Octopus Go scheme offering 7p per kWh. With a single charge, drivers can now tackle over a week’s worth of commuting without range anxiety.

Efficiency Meets Affordability

This new Model 3 not only boasts exceptional range, but also delivers the best price-to-range ratio currently available in the UK electric vehicle market. Starting at £44,990, the Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive achieves its superior efficiency through Tesla’s continuous engineering efforts focused on maximizing energy use and minimizing production costs.

For a relatable comparison, Tesla highlights that the Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive can travel a full kilometre on the same amount of energy required to heat a frozen meal in a microwave. This translates to significant savings for drivers, allowing them to travel further for each pound spent on charging.

Premium Features and Everyday Value

The Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive combines its impressive range and efficiency with the low maintenance needs characteristic of electric vehicles. This translates to an overall cost of ownership close to that of many mass-market gasoline-powered cars. However, unlike its budget-conscious competitors, the Model 3 doesn’t compromise on premium features. As with all Tesla vehicles, the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive comes standard with a suite of high-end features, including:

  • A refined and comfortable interior with premium materials and improved noise insulation.
  • A Tesla-designed premium audio system with streaming service compatibility.
  • An 8-inch rear display for passenger entertainment and climate control.
  • Ventilated front seats and heated seats for both rows.

Ideal Choice for Adventurous Drivers

The Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive is a perfect fit for drivers with a thirst for exploration. Its exceptional efficiency and access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network, with over 10,000 charging stations across Europe, open up a world of possibilities for long-distance travel.

Availability and Pricing

Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive is now available to order in the UK starting at £44,990 (compared to the base Model 3 price of £39,990). Customer deliveries are expected to begin in November 2024.

Henry Benz isn't your average automotive journalist. He's not obsessed with horsepower or zero-to-sixty times. His passion lies in the quiet hum of electric motors, the surge of instant torque, and the thrill of a world hurtling towards a sustainable future. Henry is the EV evangelist, your plug-in pal, and the guy who will make you fall in love with the world of electric vehicles, one test drive at a time.

Henry's journey began in the golden age of muscle cars. He spent his youth wrenching on classic V8s, his nose forever stained with grease and his ears ringing with the roar of internal combustion. But as the climate crisis loomed larger, a seed of doubt sprouted in his gearhead heart. Could there be a way to enjoy the thrill of the open road without sacrificing the planet?

That's when Henry discovered the world of EVs. He was captivated by the silent power, the instant acceleration, and the sleek, futuristic designs. He devoured every article, watched every documentary, and hopped behind the wheel of every electric car he could find. He was hooked.
