Volkswagen Unveils ID.3 GTX Performance: On Sale August 29th

Posted on August 27, 2024

Volkswagen has today launched the range-topping ID.3 GTX Performance, a high-performance electric hatchback set to redefine the segment. Combining exceptional speed, range, and practicality, the ID.3 GTX Performance is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.

Priced at £46,225 (OTR RRP inc VAT), the ID.3 GTX Performance boasts a powerful 84 kWh gross (79 kWh net) battery that delivers 326 PS and 545 Nm of torque. This potent combination propels the car from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds, offering exhilarating performance that rivals many traditional petrol-powered sports cars.

Despite its impressive acceleration, the ID.3 GTX Performance doesn’t sacrifice practicality. With a WLTP combined range of 369 miles, drivers can enjoy long journeys without the worry of range anxiety. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just 26 minutes at rapid DC stations of up to 185 kW, making it ideal for both daily commutes and longer trips.

The ID.3 GTX Performance stands out from the crowd with its distinctive styling. The GTX-specific front bumper, featuring a new black air intake and unique daytime running lights, creates a sporty and aggressive appearance. High-gloss black body elements, 20-inch Skagen black alloy wheels, and a refreshed rear diffuser further enhance the car’s visual appeal.

Inside, the ID.3 GTX Performance offers a premium and sporty interior. Premium ergoActive sports seats with red decorative stitching, a GTX multi-function steering wheel, and a GTX-specific cockpit surface create a driver-focused environment. Metallic paint, a Harman Kardon sound system, and an augmented-reality head-up display are also standard features, elevating the overall driving experience.

Kai Grünitz, Member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Technical Development, described the ID.3 GTX Performance as “the electric counterpart to the Golf GTI Clubsport.” He emphasized the car’s “fascinating lightness” when accelerating, highlighting the transfer of Volkswagen’s long-standing GT tradition into the world of electric mobility.

The Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance is available to order at Volkswagen UK Retailers from Thursday 29 August. With its combination of performance, range, and practicality, the ID.3 GTX Performance is set to become a benchmark in the electric vehicle segment.

Henry Benz isn't your average automotive journalist. He's not obsessed with horsepower or zero-to-sixty times. His passion lies in the quiet hum of electric motors, the surge of instant torque, and the thrill of a world hurtling towards a sustainable future. Henry is the EV evangelist, your plug-in pal, and the guy who will make you fall in love with the world of electric vehicles, one test drive at a time.

Henry's journey began in the golden age of muscle cars. He spent his youth wrenching on classic V8s, his nose forever stained with grease and his ears ringing with the roar of internal combustion. But as the climate crisis loomed larger, a seed of doubt sprouted in his gearhead heart. Could there be a way to enjoy the thrill of the open road without sacrificing the planet?

That's when Henry discovered the world of EVs. He was captivated by the silent power, the instant acceleration, and the sleek, futuristic designs. He devoured every article, watched every documentary, and hopped behind the wheel of every electric car he could find. He was hooked.
