Automobili Pininfarina Unveils Bespoke Hypercar Duo: Battista Reversario and Anniversario

Posted on April 12, 2024

Italian electric carmaker Automobili Pininfarina has reached new heights of personalization with the unveiling of the Battista Reversario, a bespoke hypercar designed in collaboration with a discerning client. This unique creation serves as a companion piece to the Battista Anniversario, further blurring the lines between high-performance electric vehicles and rolling works of art.

The Reversario embodies the concept of balance, drawing inspiration from its sibling, the Anniversario, while presenting a striking visual counterpoint. This philosophy aligns perfectly with Automobili Pininfarina’s “Dream Cars. Made Real” ethos, where customer desires are central to the design process. Every vehicle leaving their Cambiano atelier is a one-of-a-kind expression, and the Reversario stands as a prime example.

The client, who already owns the fifth and final Battista Anniversario, worked closely with Pininfarina designers to craft a car unlike any other. The most obvious distinction lies in the color scheme. The Reversario inverts the unique Pininfarina heritage theme that adorned the Anniversario. A sleek Bianco Sestriere gloss finish graces the lower half, while the upper body is cloaked in contrasting Grigio Antonelliano gloss.

Subtle nods to the Anniversario are woven throughout the design. The signature Iconica Blu pinstripes, present on the Anniversario, continue their presence here, adorning the upper stripe of the Reversario. Bespoke “Reversario” inscriptions are displayed on the carbon fiber side wings and the underside of the active rear wing, further solidifying the car’s identity.

Stepping inside the Reversario reveals a luxurious cabin tailored to the owner’s preferences. Pilota seats boast a sophisticated white-on-white Alcantara quilting set against a backdrop of perforated Iconica Blu. Black dominates the interior, with a bespoke chassis plate adding a touch of stealth. However, vibrant Iconica Blu accents pepper the cabin, adorning the cupholder retainer, headliner center bezel, and even the seatbelts.

The Reversario experience extends beyond the car itself. The discerning owner receives a three-piece luggage set crafted from black leather with Iconica Blu edging and off-white Alcantara quilting, the ultimate expression of personalized luxury.

“Anniversario and Reversario were destined to be created by the Automobili Pininfarina team,” remarked the Reversario’s owner. “I challenged them to push the boundaries and create something truly special. The result is a testament to their talent. These ‘twins’ represent a pinnacle of automotive design, not just for their performance, but for the way they capture the essence of balanced perfection.”

Dave Amantea, Chief Design Officer at Automobili Pininfarina, echoed the sentiment. “The Reversario was a dream commission,” he said. “Taking inspiration from the Anniversario, we used a timeless color combination to create an opposite that works in harmony. This project is the ultimate expression of our ‘Dream Cars. Made Real’ philosophy.”

The Battista Anniversario, launched in 2020 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Pininfarina’s founding, was a limited-edition masterpiece with only five units ever produced. The Reversario inherits its predecessor’s crown as the most powerful road-legal Italian car ever made.

Both hypercars boast a state-of-the-art electric powertrain featuring a high-capacity 120 kWh lithium-ion battery housed in a lightweight carbon fiber structure. Four independent high-performance electric motors propel the car, offering unparalleled responsiveness and handling. Drivers can tailor their experience with a choice of five driving modes, ranging from “Calma” (calm) to “Furiosa” (furious), ensuring the Reversario is as comfortable on a scenic drive as it is exhilarating on the track.

The Battista Reversario and its Anniversario counterpart represent a landmark achievement in electric hypercar design. They push the boundaries of performance and personalization, solidifying Automobili Pininfarina’s position at the forefront of the luxury EV revolution.

Henry Benz isn't your average automotive journalist. He's not obsessed with horsepower or zero-to-sixty times. His passion lies in the quiet hum of electric motors, the surge of instant torque, and the thrill of a world hurtling towards a sustainable future. Henry is the EV evangelist, your plug-in pal, and the guy who will make you fall in love with the world of electric vehicles, one test drive at a time.

Henry's journey began in the golden age of muscle cars. He spent his youth wrenching on classic V8s, his nose forever stained with grease and his ears ringing with the roar of internal combustion. But as the climate crisis loomed larger, a seed of doubt sprouted in his gearhead heart. Could there be a way to enjoy the thrill of the open road without sacrificing the planet?

That's when Henry discovered the world of EVs. He was captivated by the silent power, the instant acceleration, and the sleek, futuristic designs. He devoured every article, watched every documentary, and hopped behind the wheel of every electric car he could find. He was hooked.
